‘Natural forces within us are the true healers of disease’
Hippocrates

I feel it's this natural force that responds to Acupuncture.
How we heal after illness is not a matter for science alone. Sometimes, It's a process of recognising that recovering from a physical ailment or an emotional trauma may depend on going "off-piste", by leaving the paths of familiar textbook solutions in favour of something more unscripted and perhaps more effective.

Have you ever considered that Acupuncture may help you more than you think to combat acute and chronic disorders?

What conditions and symptoms can Acupuncture

alleviate?

Currently, I am successfully treating and supporting patients who are suffering a variety of acute or chronic conditions and symptoms such as:

  • Pain management of all musculoskeletal disorders, sports injury and tendonitis.

  • Neurological disorders of the central nervous system and rehabilitation support for conditions such as Parkinson disease, stroke and spinal injury.

  • Circulatory issues such as hypertension and blood pressure modulation, Raynaud's disease and peripheral circulatory diseases.

  • Stress modulation, emotional anxiety and mental disruption.

  • Allergy and inflammatory reactions, compromised auto-immune and post-viral syndromes including long-covid recovery and thyroid support management.

  • Insomnia and sleep disruption.

  • Acute and chronic respiratory Lung disease such as asthma or post-viral breathlessness.

  • Inflammatory gut disorders and digestive tract disruption.

  • Migraine and headache control.

  • Menstrual management, fertility and pregnancy support.

  • Dermatological conditions including acne, eczema, psoriasis and alopecia.

  • Cancer management support throughout ongoing radiotherapy and chemotherapy.

  • Post operative recuperation.

This is by no means an exhaustive list and for some of the above conditions acupuncture is a supportive therapy, not the cure. However, in clinic I have personally experienced and witnessed the holistic ability of acupuncture to weave its magic and manage or successfully heal many disorders.

Your body is your home. Unique and intricate, its fanatical devotion to keeping you alive and healthy is unparalleled, but roundly ignored most of the time.  Being human isn’t all about constant internal awareness, indeed much of our focus is on the external experience, until perhaps our homeostasis is disrupted.

The fundamental principle of acupuncture is to balance this interdependence between the external and internal, as a part and the whole you.

Can Acupuncture help me, because you are my last resort

This is a question I get asked all the time. My answer is; if you are struggling with a health-related issue, the chances are acupuncture may help you and can be safely combined with conventional treatments and prescription medication.

Many patients want a supportive treatment to alleviate ongoing acute or chronic conditions, or are struggling to cope emotionally and feeling generally unwell. Some patients seek an alternative therapy after inconsistent treatment outcomes. You don't need to have a health-related reason to be treated, you may just feel that acupuncture helps bring a balance, enabling you to cope with whatever life throws your way.

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a traditional therapeutic branch of Chinese Medicine, developed and practised in the far east for thousands of years. Chinese practitioners recognised the body’s natural energetic power to heal and accessed that energy via certain landmarks on the skin. They called that vital internal energy...Qi (chi).

Qi is a concept that holds no existence in Western culture. In Chinese Medicine, Qi is your energetic life force. Qi is the organisational energy of every living being at a cellular level of fascia, tissues and organs, even the holistic emotions and spirit. An intrinsic felt-sense of what makes you...you.

Early practitioners studied anatomy, mapped the bodies landscapes and understood the inner or outer influences on internal organ function. They observed reactions of the nervous system, hormonal bio-rhythms, and vitality, all governed and maintained by the quality of Qi function. When this symbiotic partnership is interrupted, disease occurs.

Is Acupuncture safe?

Acupuncture is a well researched, safe and minimally invasive therapy, recognised by the World Health Organisation (WHO), Macmillan Cancer Support, NHS Providers and the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) as a clinically beneficial treatment method. Therefore, many patients are recommended acupuncture by their Doctor, Consultant or Midwife.

Very fine single-use sterile needles are inserted at a specific therapeutic acupuncture point to access your Qi, causing little to no discomfort, while sending enough of a signal to let the body know it needs to respond. The needle insertion and stimulation creates an integrated pattern of Qi activity, sending chains of electrical nerve impulses to turn processes on and off. The Qi response stimulates the body’s nervous system, promoting circulation, healing and pain modulation, while helping to return the body to its natural homeostasis
